Top 5: Anti-Aging Skincare Gadgets
Hola, I’m Laura!
My friends have been asking me to make a video about skin care because I’m obsessed with finding the best gadgets to keep my 37 year old face from aging, without injections – but I’ve been on the road for quite a bit so I figured I may as well just drop the routine before the demo.
For context, I have horrible hormonal cystic acne which I’ve also managed to keep at bay by layering serums, retinol, sunscreen and using the following devices.
After much testing.. here are my current top 5 absolute must have skincare (acne management & anti-aging) maintenance devices:
1. Deesse Mask –
red/blue light therapy
$1,900 / SHANIDARDEN.COM
My number one ride or die would have to be the Dessee Mask by Shani Darden. I am low-key obsessed with Shani, a celebrity esthetician who works on everyone from Shay Mitchell to Jessica Alba. I use all of her products, and when I found out that she partnered with Deesse to create a mask with red light, blue light and a neck attachment I knew I had to pull the trigger. This is *the* Bentley of masks. I use each of the 3 ten minute settings, for a total of 30 mins 5 times a week. This works on preventing aging, fine lines, acne, scarring and pigmentation and giving you an overall glow.
2. NuFace Trinity+ – microcurrent
$395 / NUFACE.COM
Wondering how all your fave celebrities and models get that snatched look after a night out? Need a last minute facial but don’t have the time? Pro tip: it’s not just makeup, this gadget goes even deeper than that. NuFace uses microcurrent technology to exercise the muscles in your face, think of it as a gym for your cheekbones and chin. It can literally sculpt your face for an event (the cheek pop setting will have you looking like Bella Hadid) and works long term to tighten your wrinkles if you use it consistently. I’ve been using the Trinity+ at home and the Mini+ to travel, they’re both bluetooth activated and I love the integration with the app to track my progress.
3. NuDerma – high frequency wand
$99.95 / AMAZON.COM
This is the part where you get to feel like Harry Potter, because this wand is literally magic on zits. It has two types of attachments, neon and argon. The neon helps to oxygenate your skin, increasing blood flow which helps to reduce fine lines and the argon legit zaps the bacteria underneath the surface of your pimple, reducing healing time by 90%. It seems too good to be true, until you see your pimple disappearing in front of your eyes throughout the course of the day. Having issues with hair growth instead of acne? Check out one of the other attachments used to stimulate the follicles back into their growth phase. With so many attachments (6!) to choose from it’s the beauty equivalent of a Swiss Army knife.
4. Dermaflash Luxe+ – dermaplane
$199 / DERMAFLASH.COM
Whether you have some unwanted pesky facial hair or you just want your serums to absorb better and makeup to sit perfectly, dermaplaning is for you. It uses vibration to ensure that you remove all peach fuzz (and more) from the external layer of your skin leaving a perfect canvas for your products to rest on. Searching for the perfect glass skin, lit from within glow, this will help you get there. (And no – don’t worry, your hair won’t grow back coarser.)
5. Aria by Vanity Planet – facial steamer
$69 / VANITYPLANET.COM
Not much to say here, except a trusty steamer can really help open up your pores and get rid of build up before it happens. (Not-so-fun fact: pimples can take months to form.) There’s a reason that steaming and hot towels are used for almost every facial treatment. Are there better more expensive ones, yes, but this is a good option at a decent price point.
